Check out the Baymont Inn and Suites facility:
- convention center, banquet hall, VERY LARGE and spacious. We will have two quilters per table, PLENTY of room and even more of OUR VERY POPULAR raised, shared cutting and pressing stations.
- an attached Baymont Inn and Suites. This is a NEW hotel with comfortable beds. Can we say it is time for relaxing in the whirlpool or taking a swim in the pool?

A little background on how we happened to move our retreat to Belmont, Wisconsin.
- Barbara Raisbeck, owner of Quilts by Barb, and Diane Lapacek, our #1 teacher for the weekend are two of the Donahoe sisters who grew up in the Belmont area and graduated from Belmont High School. Yes, that is right. We have three more sisters and we won't even talk about the brothers.
- Belmont is a REALLY small town. Dad watched with great interest the changing of HWY 151 "from Madison to Dubuque" (his words) from a very busy two lane highway into a wonderful new four lane highway with a bypass of Belmont's main street.
- Now, growing up in Belmont, we never dreamed that accommodations such as Baymont Inn and Convention Center would ever be a part of Belmont. I got to "dreaming" of moving the retreat to a hotel with a LOT OF SEWING ROOM. After attending a wedding reception at The Convention Center, I knew it was time to go back home to Belmont.
- Belmont is located less than one hour south of Madison, Wisconsin and about 30 minutes north of Dubuque, Iowa. on Hwy 151. Hence, Dad's "from Madison to Dubuque" definition. Belmont is 5 miles from Platteville, Wisconsin, home of UW-P, of which both Barb and Diane (and many other sibs) are alumni.
- history buffs, Belmont was Wisconsin's First State Capitol and is home to First Capitol State Park.
Other information regarding the retreat:
- You are always welcome to work on a project of your own instead or in addition to the group project. We encourage you to bring other projects from home that you would like help on to complete.
- We participate in a "quilt that gives back." We work, as a group on a quilt and it is completed and machine quilted by Quilts by Barb. This has always been a part of our retreats and our 2010 donation quilt will be donated to a special someone who is nominated by a participant at the retreat.
- The "yard that keeps on going........." You have to attend a retreat to learn more about it!
- Show and Tell by our participants. This is a favorite of all quilters. We show quilts completed from past retreats as well as other quilts and quilt items.
- Our goal is to offer you an educational and relaxing weekend with the best; other quilters!
Do you live within driving distance of the retreat? You are not required to stay at the hotel to participate. We would love to have you!
