Nikki's Mariner's Compass was made for my daughter-in-law for her wedding shower. The quilt told the story of their wedding. They had rust as their wedding color and goldfish on the tables to honor the fish in their pond at their West Virginia home.
The quilt has been displayed at a number of quilt shows in the area and won numerous ribbons.
The quilt will be part of the Traditional Treasures V exhibit in April of 2008. "This juried exhibit showcases the best of contemporary regional traditional quiltmaking, with quilts featuring time-honored patterns and exquisite workmanship. It honors those quiltmakers who choose to work in the style of their foremothers and focusing on developing perfection of technique."
I promised Nikki she could have her quilt back after this exhibit for them to display in their new home.
